Brad Treliving caused a surprise at the last trade deadline by acquiring Ilya Lyubushkin, who got to wear the Maple Leafs uniform for the second time of his career.
The last time he played in Toronto, he left the team the next summer, and unfortunately, fans could see him leave that way once again.
David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period revealed that general manager Brad Treliving have not started any contract negotiations with the defenseman:
Earlier today, we learned that Joel Edmundson plans to test the free agent market on July 1st. If both players end up leaving the team, the Leafs will only have Morgan Rielly, Jake McCabe, Simon Benoit and Conor Timmins signed for the next season.
It's no secret that they plan on adding players at the blue line this summer, but many believed Treliving would try to bring at least one of his trade deadline acquisitions.
