The Toronto Maple Leafs have now been under the leadership of Craig Berube for several weeks after he was hired by Brad Treliving. Since being hired there has been a lot of talk about who he will hire as his assistant head coaches.
A report coming from NHL insider Darren Dreger has indicated that former New York Islanders head coach Lane Lambert could be hired soon.
Darren Dreger continued and said that he believes that Lane Lambert would be brought in to focus on the offensive side of the game. He would be put in charge of the forwards under the vision of Craig Berube.
Lane Lambert's time in New York was considered very turbulent. His team could not find a way to consistently string together wins in 2023-24. As a result earlier this season he was let go by the New York Islanders and replaced by Patrick Roy.
In Lane Lambert's two seasons as the bench boss for the Islanders he compiled a 61-46-20 record. He would bring playoff experience to the Maple Leafs bench as he was the head coach of the Islanders for one playoff run. As of now, any interviews or negotiations are not far along.
Once the Toronto Maple Leafs make an official decision regarding their assistant coaching vacancies we will provide all of the latest updates.
