Update (Nov. 8, 11:45 AM): According to NHL Insider Darren Dreger, both Kampf and his agent JP Barry are discussing their options and will make a decision by Monday regarding Kampf's future:

David Kampf and his agent, JP Barry are exploring all of their options and will decide by Monday. Technically, Kampf remains suspended by the Maple Leafs/Marlies.
According to NHL Insider David Pagnotta, the Toronto Maple Leafs are expected to have a conclusion to the David Kampf saga, as a trade looks to be imminent.
News broke earlier this week that David Kampf was taking a leave of absence from the Toronto Marlies as he contemplates his career choices, not wanting to be stuck in the AHL for the rest of the season.
It got so bad that he was suspended by the team (without pay) for his conduct and while he thinks about his future the team mulls their options about what to do with the disgruntled veteran.

Insider Reveals the Latest on David Kampf's Situation in Toronto

According to one insider however, it looks like we could get a conclusion to things very shortly.
David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period explained on X that he has heard word the Maple Leafs are continuing to work diligently for a deal, and they hope that things can end up being resolved by the end of the weekend:
The Maple Leafs continue to navigate the market on David Kampf. A trade is preferred, but we'll see where and when this ends up - there is an expectation this is resolved by the end of the weekend. Should add, there's no animosity and both sides tell me it's all amicable.
Everyone seems to be fairly hopeful for a quick end to things, and it's great to hear that despite his reservations about playing for the Marlies, Kampf isn't holding any grudges or ill will towards the Maple Leafs.

Both Sides Know It's Time to Move On

Kampf was waived earlier this season to make room for the new faces on the roster, and was subject to heavy trade speculation since the beginning of the offseason, but nothing has yet to materialize.
Having scored only 13 points last season, Kampf has lost any sense of offensive touch in Toronto and at $2.4-million that's unacceptable for the team right now; especially with their depth players actually contributing.
For the veteran forward, he has never really had to play in the AHL and knows that his value to an NHL team is worth more than his contract is now; so he may be willing to terminate things.
The writing was on the wall during the postseason last year, and the trades and moves the team made this summer all but assured that Kampf was no longer going to be a part of things going forward.
His time with the Toronto Maple Leafs is seemingly coming to an end, and for a frustrated and tired fanbase, it can't come soon enough.
