Tinus Luc Koblar is quickly rising as one of the Toronto Maple Leafs top rated prospects, and Toronto drafted him 64th overall.

Norway has progressed to the semifinals at the 2026 IIHF World Championship after a 2-0 win against Latvia, setting up a match against Switzerland for the chance at gold, or at the very least Norway's first medal in Worlds history.

It was Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Tinus Luc Koblar who opened the scoring for the Norwegians with his team leading sixth goal and ninth point of the tournament.

Koblar, drafted 64th overall in last year's draft, leads all players taken in the 2025 NHL Draft in points, ahead of top-10 picks in Porter Martone, James Hagens, & Anton Frondell.

Koblar scored the goal that sent Norway to their first World Championship semifinal and Toronto drafted him 64th overall

Tinus Luc Koblar has been leading the Norwegians run to a potential World Championship medal, with the 18-year-old continuing to surpass expectations.

Koblar's surprise ascent saw him make the roster for SHL club Leksands, scoring eight goals and 14 points, and after the club was relegated, Koblar signed a deal with Rogle to remain in the Swedish top division.

Having been seen as an uncertainty when he was drafted, Koblar is proving almost all doubt of him wrong after just a year. While the NHL will still be the point of proof for Koblar, he's passed his projection much earlier than anticipated.

With Norway having a chance to go for gold, Koblar should be key to the Norwegians continuing their fairytale run to a title.

The Leafs are debating McKenna or Stenberg at first overall and their own prospect just matched Stenberg at the Worlds

Another notable point being made is a comparison between Tinus Luc Koblar and 2026 Draft projected top-five prospect Ivar Stenberg, the top ranked European in this year's draft.

Koblar has outplayed Stenberg with only a few months separated between the two despite the one year difference in draft eligibility.

Stenberg's September 2007 birthday has been one of the few questions marks surrounding Stenberg, who has a legitimate advantage in maturity being older than most of this year's draft class, and the oldest of the consensus top prospects.

Koblar is of course no Ivar Stenberg. Despite this tournament, Koblar still remains likely as a middle-six forward at the pro level, while Stenberg is projected to be a top-six, or even potentially top line forward.

It's no knock on Koblar to say that he isn't Ivar Stenberg, or Anton Frondell for that matter, but that the Leafs got a potential high value player at the end of the second round at 64th overall.

Still, the Toronto Maple Leafs look as if they got a steal in Tinus Luc Koblar, and someone who is trending towards being a hero for a Norway team that could pull off one of the biggest international upsets in history.
