Sheldon Keefe Criticizes New Leaf for Low Production After the Game
Leafs' Bad Start Continues With Another Tough Loss.
The Toronto Maple Leafs lost again last night.
Despite Auston Matthews' third hat trick of the season, Toronto couldn't beat the division rivals Sabres, who won 6-4.
The blue line and the bottom-six were simply abysmal in the defeat.
Keefe shared his thoughts on his players' performance after the game.
Keefe Opens Up on Poor Performance from Newly Acquired Player
Max Domi, who signed a one-year deal with Toronto last summer, hasn't been very good since the season started. In 10 games, he has scored only 4 points and no goals.
Keefe was clear in his post-game press conference: he needs to bring more.
Take a look at what the coach said:
"Domi is a guy we expected more from and some contribution offensively. I keep going back to that Tampa game, and he makes two game-breaking plays that get us the win there and allow us to get two points. That is the kind of contribution you need from him."
Consistency is key to succeeding in the NHL, and it has always been an issue with Domi.
You never know which Domi you'll get when he steps on the ice. Keefe and Leafs fans want more. He'll need to be better if he hopes to stay in Toronto after his current contract.
