With the Toronto Maple Leafs looking to improve their blue line, some fans on X are getting overzealous with trade proposals involving superstar Quinn Hughes.

It's no secret that the Toronto Maple Leafs' blue line needs to get younger. Morgan Rielly, Chris Tanev, Darren Raddysh, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, and Jake McCabe are all getting up there in age.

General manager John Chayka has reportedly set his sights on the likes of Alexander Nikishin and Simon Edvinsson, who are certainly obtainable at this time.

However, some Leafs fans want the franchise to be bolder in its decision-making. For instance, one fan account created a blockbuster Quinn Hughes trade proposal.

In this proposal, the Leafs would trade for Quinn Hughes and immediately sign him to an extension. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Wild would receive Easton Cowan, Ben Danford, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, and Colorado's first-round pick in 2027.

Leafs Acquire:
Quinn Hughes (with extension)

Wild Acquire:
Easton Cowan
Ben Danford
Oliver Ekman-Larsson
2027 COL 1st Round Pick

It is a bold trade proposal that has elicited some strong responses on X, with most telling the user that they are completely out to lunch.

Why this trade won't happen

This trade won't happen for one simple reason. It's complete and utter fantasy.

Quinn Hughes wants to play with his brothers. The likeliest way for that to happen is a trade to the New Jersey Devils.

He has refused to sign an extension with the Minnesota Wild, which has led to suggestions that he will be traded out East. However, a trade to the Maple Leafs simply is not in the cards based on everything we know about Hughes.

Furthermore, the Leafs would be nuts to trade Ben Danford and Easton Cowan right now. The team needs to get younger and not older. Getting rid of Cowan and Danford would mortgage the future of the team.

At this point, fans just need to calm down, relax, and let the front office work.
