A reality where Mitch Marner doesn't start the 2024-25 season with the Toronto Maple Leafs is likely, but one media personality thinks this off-season won't include such a drastic trade.

After multiple first-round exits and one second-round appearance, the Toronto Maple Leafs have realized their playoff frustrations won't succeed with their current core.
While it may not be the straight line you think, the new ownership group that has branched into MLSE has some major differences with President Brendan Shanahan.
The year-end media availability shows that the current general manager Brad Treliving is more tempted to make a drastic move and he has the backing of the ownership group, and reluctantly, Brendan Shanahan.
The "Shanaplan" hasn't worked. That's the key to all of this. Marner wants an extension to Toronto and claims it is his goal to remain a Toronto Maple Leaf long-term, but his security detail wants to attack anyone who criticizes their client.
This analyst builds on the idea that it may be tougher to move the star with a full no-movement clause, especially in this salary cap climate.
If it is Marner who's the domino to fall in all of this, it's unfortunate, but look at how much change the Colorado Avalanche underwent before finally breaking through and winning a Stanley Cup. Something needs to happen sooner rather than later.
