Former NHL defenseman PK Subban's latest comments about Mitch Marner are going to hurt Maple Leafs fans as they see the team struggle to find their new identity.
The Toronto Maple Leafs lost Mitch Marner this season after he was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights. He declined to re-sign in Toronto, and the team moved him to avoid losing him for nothing.
They got Nic Roy, but that has been a mixed bag thus far. He's been solid, but also dealing with injuries and not being utilized to the best of his ability.

It's something that former NHL defenseman PK Subban took issue with earlier this season and warned Maple Leafs fans they weren't going to like losing Marner.
Subban has recently doubled down on his previous comments and reminded Leafs Nation that Marner is a special type of player, and that things are certainly going to be worse going forward:

Subban played out things exactly as they unfolded and with Marner thriving in Vegas and Toronto middling, he's not exactly wrong.
What Subban's Comments Reveal About Marner's Value Around the NHL
Love him or hate him, there is no denying just how supremely talented Marner really is.
He's picked up right where he left off last year and while there were some growing pains initially, has put up 21 points in 20 games and is looking ever the superstar fans grew to love in Toronto.
But he's truly a complete player and is giving Vegas every chance to win when he's on the ice. His defense hasn't slipped, his possession numbers have been outstanding and he's even taking and winning more face-offs.
Toronto thought they could replace him through pieces like Roy, Dakota Joshua and Matias Maccelli, but even as good as those three are, they don't reach the level of talent that Marner possesses and rarely will you find a replacement for that.
He looks like a player who could help Vegas stay in the playoff conversation for years; whereas Toronto is struggling to stay afloat in the Atlantic without Marner.
PK Subban wasn't just trying to stir up Maple Leafs fans when he warned them about losing Marner in the future. He was pointing out how difficult it is to replace a player with Marner's impact.
