With the Toronto Maple Leafs moving on from Marc Savard as their power play and assistant coach, there's one name who is waiting for his chance to turn things around.
Toronto should seriously consider Bruce Boudreau to replace Marc Savard...and maybe more
However, if the team were to decide to go outside the organization, they have a good amount of options to choose from though one name sticks out above all the rest:
Bruce Boudreau is someone who is very familiar with the Toronto Maple Leafs, often part of TSN's analysis of the team during games, and often gives his opinion on shows like OverDrive and First Up.
Boudreau is one of the more well-respected and accomplished coaches over the last two decades, and while he has been out of coaching since the 2022-23 season, he's got the chops.
Why Bruce Boudreau would be a solid choice for the Maple Leafs
For his career he holds a 617-342-128 record and won the Jack Adams during the 2007-08 season and has had a fantastic ability to maximize his stars potential, and for a team desperate to unlock them on the power play; that's a huge boost.
He's also been part of the Maple Leafs organization before, spending seven seasons with the team from 1976-1983 and put together a solid career with 69 points (27 goals, 42 assists) and a minus-six in 134 games with Toronto; he was drafted 42nd overall by the team in 1975.
Players love him, he's got serious credentials, can give the team a much different voice beside Berube, and potentially be the one who succeeds him while bringing in his own staff to run things.
Bruce Boudreau has coached some of the NHL's greatest players during his time as a head coach, and if the Maple Leafs are trying to get the most out of their stars, there's no one better to turn to than the one they call 'Gabby.'
