OHL Insider Teases Major Trade Involving Top Maple Leafs Prospect Ben Danford

There's a good chance that Ben Danford will not only be a solid piece of the Maple Leafs' future, but he could very well be on Team Canada this winter in the World Juniors, one more step towards reaching the NHL.

While he's still got a bit of a ways to go, he is expected to still be a huge part of the Oshawa General lineup as they continue to search for not only OHL Championship glory, but that coveted Memorial Cup.

Well, according to OHL Insider OHL Scoops on X, there's a big possibility that the Maple Leafs prospect could be on the move, and may be involved in a blockbuster deal:

While there is no idea about the potential return for Oshawa, odds are it's going to involve a lot of draft picks, and perhaps one or two players.

It seems like the Bulldogs are all the rage this summer, given they were purchased by Zach Hyman and his family, and now are in talks to add a star in Danford.

He would join the likes of Caleb Malhotra (son of former NHLer and Maple Leafs coach Manny Malhotra) as well as fellow Maple Leafs prospect Sam McCue.

In 188 games for the Generals, Danford has 79 points (10 goals, 69 assists) and 135 PIM; he also added 16 points in 47 playoff contests (6 goals, 10 assists).

While it's also a huge possibility that the Bulldogs decide to move on from adding Danford, the Hyman family want to be the best of the best, and will absolutely do what's necessary to bring in the top stars; Danford is presumably just the beginning.

It's quite the interesting turn in the career of Danford, as he went from OHL runner-up, to potential Team Canada representative, to being potentially dealt in a blockbuster trade.

What a rollercoaster for Danford so far, and for him it's just the start of a long career.
