Noah Gregor's future with the Toronto Maple Leafs likely confirmed
The Toronto Maple Leafs have made a few changes to their team already this summer, firing Sheldon Keefe in exchange for Craig Berube, and now likely letting Noah Gregor go.
After signing with the Toronto Maple Leafs as a free agent last year, Noah Gregor became a fan favourite in the bottom-six, although he only produced 12 points in 63 games.
Unfortunately for Noah Gregor, however, the likely roster spot that will be given to first-round draft pick Easton Cowan will make his role irrelevant, and per The Athletic's Toronto Maple Leafs analyst Joshua Kloke, Gregor will not be given a qualifying offer, and will be let go to free agency.
With the emergence of Cowan next season combined with Gregor's declining production and role in the second half of the season (one goal in his last 35 games), it feels unlikely the Leafs extend a qualifying offer. He was known to be a good teammate in Toronto and his speed and attitude alone should help him catch on with another NHL team easily enough next season.
The full column from The Athletic, which includes analysis on Timothy Liljegren, Connor Dewar, and Nick Robertson can be found here. Do you believe letting Noah Gregor go is a mistake, or is it the right move to allow space for a potential star in Easton Cowan?
