Nick Alberga: Leafs Working on Finding New Homes for Two More Players

Maple Leafs analyst Nick Alberga explained the Leafs are trying to find homes for David Kampf and Calle Jarnkrok but unfortunately the market has been fairly quiet.
Although the Toronto Maple Leafs have been busy over the last couple days, there is still free agency happening, which means the team is going to be able to make another splash this summer.
But there are still two players who stick out like a sore thumb who are expected to leave, that being David Kampf and Calle Jarnkrok; both are fairly reasonable contracts but at their price would be more suited for another team; especially since Toronto is switching things up.
Toronto trying to move Kampf and Jarnkrok in a weak market
For Leafs Morning Take host and Maple Leafs analyst Nick Alberga, he explained that as much as Toronto is trying to trade them, there doesn't seem to be much interest and it might take a bit longer than expected:
The Leafs remain active in trying to find new homes for David Kampf and Calle Jarnkrok. With free agency set to kick off tomorrow, I'm told there's not much doing on either front right now.
The market has been thin.
It makes sense given that most teams are figuring out their own contract and re-signings before focusing on minor deals, and once their bonuses are paid on July 1 there is sure to be more interest given how much cheaper they are going to be.
Toronto keeps the changes coming
We know the team is undergoing some changes, and if the trades themselves weren't already an indicator, the team
refused to field a qualifying offer to
Pontus Holmberg; leaving him a free agent in a pretty quick turnaround from a year ago.
It's probably not going to be anything special if the team were to trade Jarnkrok and Kampf shortly, but since they traded away a 3rd-round pick to Utah for Maccelli, if they are able to recoup a couple of picks then it's better than nothing.
Plus, they can still both offer help to a team's bottom six, and teams seeking a veteran presence down the middle who can help mentor their younger players can certainly count on both Kampf and Jarnkrok.
With the prospect of free agency just around the corner, and some certain holes to fill elsewhere; moving on from Kampf and Jarnkrok seems like a certainty.
But this is the NHL after all; nothing is guaranteed.
