A new report confirms that Sheldon Keefe could keep his head coach position with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

After taking the fall for the Leafs' tough elimination in his end-of-season press conference earlier this week, there are many rumors about his future in the organization.

Management is set to hold a press conference on Friday, and meanwhile, fans are eager to know what is going to happen to the team this summer.

Chris Johnston, in an intervention on 'The CJ Show', raised an interesting point. According to him, the Leafs could very well keep him around.

He believes that the Leafs don't feel like there's a clear upgrade for him available on the market. He also stated that the organization thinks the Leafs' coach had a great season, which helps his case.

"I think the feeling seems to be that there isn't a clear upgrade on him out there... I think that's what's making it difficult.

There is an internal view that Sheldon Keefe had a good season. They played a meaningful amount of games with their third goaltender this season. They were missing significant chunks of their blueline. Even in the playoffs they played 3 games without William Nylander, two games without Auston Matthews plus 3 games where we was dealing with illness or injury.

I think there is a case to be made he had maybe his best season as a head coach."

There are plenty of candidates available, such as Gerard Gallant, Todd McLellan and Joel Quenneville.

Answers to our questions should be given by the Leafs' management in their press conference on Friday.
