A new development in the potential reunion of Nazem Kadri and the Maple Leafs show that the former forward is more than willing to return.

The offseason continues for the Maple Leafs with aplomb, and with several other moves to come (just be patient fans) there is going to be a whole new roster of players who are looking to bring the passion, and more importantly; a Stanley Cup to Toronto.
While they haven't made a big splash yet, all signs are pointing towards them working some magic to get a deal done via the trade market, and there are several top names who could add the scoring punch they need.
Jared McCann and Jordan Kyrou come to mind. McCann is a former Leaf who went unprotected in the 2021 Expansion Draft then proceeded to explode for 118 goals over four seasons. Kyrou is a former Craig Berube player who has been lights out for the St. Louis Blues, but might be on the way out.

Nazem Kadri willing to move NMC for chance to win in Toronto: Koshan

But there's one player who's been brought up a lot more than others: Nazem Kadri.
The former Maple Leafs standout has carved out quite the nice career for himself since leaving Toronto, and while he admitted he never wanted to in the first place, a Stanley Cup in Colorado has to at least make him feel accomplished.
According to Terry Koshan of The Toronto Sun, not only does Kadri have an inkling to return to the Maple Leafs, but isn't going to let anything get in the way; well most things at least:
An NHL source said on Wednesday, however, that Kadri would not let his no-move clause stand in the way of agreeing to a trade to Toronto. At the same time, it was stressed to us that Kadri enjoys playing in Calgary and is not looking to be moved.

Bring Nazem home, Brad

It's quite the revelation but also isn't too surprising given Kadri's comments recently where he stated he wanted to win in Toronto and never forget where his roots were (and has the passion to boot.)
Kadri, 34, has been as steady as ever since leaving the Maple Leafs. After three years in Colorado where he won a Stanley Cup, he was signed by then-GM Brad Treliving to a long-term deal, and has been a mainstay in Calgary since.
In 246 games, Kadri has 198 points with the Flames (88G, 110A) and is coming off a career-high 35 goal campaign; for his career he has 710 points in 985 games (307G, 403A) since being drafted 7th overall by Toronto in 2009.
But he belongs here. While Calgary is a fantastic city rich with history and deeply engrained in the hockey world; there's no place like home.
The issue is what the cost will be, considering the Flames might not be too privy to give their top scorer away, and Brad Treliving needs to sweeten the pot.
If he's able to bring him in though, not only does it give Toronto one of the best offensive players in the league, but also brings the prodigal son back home for one more run.
Come back home, Nazem. #43 is waiting for you.
