The Leafs looked to be in a hole last night after going down 2-0 to the Colorado Avalanche, one of this season's best teams in the NHL. However, they were able to work their way all the way back, thanks to Tyler Bertuzzi.
After he scored a hat trick and the go-ahead goal, the Colorado Avalanche commentary team could be heard audibly disappointed that Bertuzzi had scored.
Homer announcers are great to have in hockey, especially when the broadcast is a local one. It gives colour and character to the broadcast, which is great. Unfortunately for the Leafs, though, is that for some reason announcers like Mike Johnson get in trouble when they express their Leafs fandom.
Bertuzzi had a breakout game last night after a season chock-full of bad bounces. He is known for performing well in big games, and that is exactly what happened last night. His performance earned the praise of his teammates as well, earning him the Leafs' game belt, and a song from teammate Max Domi.
Clearly, Bertuzzi is showing Leaf fans that they shouldn't give up on him, single-handedly earning them big wins like this.
As seen on Maple Leafs Daily - "Must watch: Avs play-by-play team disgusted to have to announce Bertuzzi's hat trick goal last night"
