Matt Murray Injury Update Days Before Biggest Clash of the Year
Heading into the playoffs there is a lot on the plate of the Maple Leafs. Seemingly a must-win first round if the band is to stay together next season.
For any team, but especially the Leafs, goaltending will shine at the forefront. You simply cannot succeed at this time of year with subpar results at that position.
The Leafs hit the ice for practice today and two goaltenders were present and taking reps.
Neither of which was Matt Murray.
It was announced that
Ilya Samsonov, who was battling injury will be good to go for round one, but
Joseph Woll waiting in the wings isn't exactly the most comforting idea.
With no playoff games under his belt, and only 11 NHL appearances, Leaf fans will be holding their breath should they see him in the net.
Matt Murray has not shown the ability to stay healthy over the past few seasons, but his success in the playoffs with Pittsburgh is definitely key, as he has shown that he can come up clutch at the biggest times.
The obvious hope is that Murray is ready to go at some point during the playoffs, but head injuries and his track record make it extremely tricky to predict.
