Auston Matthews vs Mitch Marner: Leafs Fans Ignite Fierce Debate Over 2025 Points Race

It's going to be a story that is followed from October to April, that being how both Mitch Marner and the Toronto Maple Leafs are going to fare in their first seasons away from each other.

Is Marner going to find a new lease on life in Vegas? Is Toronto going to be able to get the same level of offense from pieces like Nic Roy and Matias Maccelli?

There's a lot of excitement but also a ton of unanswered questions.

So it's going to be the big debate this season, who is going to come out on top?

Well for TSN OverDrive, they wanted to know too. So they asked fans and the results are actually quite a bit more skewed towards Marner surprisingly.

Marner edged Matthews surprisingly given how much flak and criticism he received, although it wouldn't be surprising given his talent and coming off a 100-point season.

Fans were a bit shocked as well, but also believe Marner is set to dominate with his new team.

Marner had a brilliant season last year with 102 points (27 goals, 75 assists) and was undoubtedly part of the reason Toronto made it to the second round.

But he failed to show up when it mattered again and decided enough was enough.

Matthews had a rough season but chalk it up to a year long injury, though he still managed to put up 78 points (33 goals, 45 assists).

Much like Marner though he didn't show up, although he's looking to make a statement in 2025-26.

One thing to watch out for is January 23rd as this will be when both men meet as opponents on an NHL rink (they already have internationally).

Fans are going to be glued to their seat when it comes to both men's 2025-26 seasons, and you can bet your bottom dollar that the hockey world is watching.
