It's been four years since Tie Domi took the ice, but in doing so with the Maple Leafs on Wednesday, found himself being chirped at by none other than his own son.

We all know Tie Domi. He was the short, stocky, but tough-as-nails forward who endeared himself to the Maple Leafs fanbase through his sheer gutsiness and willingness to fight just about anybody or anything if it irked him the wrong way.
But it's been a long time since he's played in the NHL, and a few years removed since he was really involved in anything hockey related. You can often catch him watching his son Max at home games, sometimes even cracking a smile if things go well.

However, Wednesday saw Domi lace them up for the first time in four years, and while he's not going to be fighting for any top-line minutes for the current Leafs, it was a treat to see one of the more iconic names in franchise history take the ice once again.
But it was also the perfect opportunity for Max to poke some fun at his dad too.
Look at that bucket! He got the puck, what a move! Shoot it! Nice pass, I'll give him that.

While we aren't certain exactly what the context of the scrimmage is, whether it's part of a future Maple Leafs alumni game or if Domi had joined a Toronto-area beer league, but seeing him back on the ice and still doing what he loves is a great way to cap off 2025.
Domi needs to introduction but for younger Maple Leafs fans, he spent 12 years with the team and became iconic for his willingness to drop the gloves and be one of the most penalized players in league history.
In 777 games with Toronto he registered 196 points (84 goals, 112 assists) and an unbelievable 2,265 PIM. From the 95-96 season through the 97-98 season, Domi accumulated 937 PIM including a career-high 365 PIM in 97-98.
To put it into perspective, Tiger Williams is second-all time on Toronto's franchise list for penalty minutes with 1,670; Domi clears him by nearly 600 PIM which by itself is a large enough number.
So it's a fun way to finish out the year, and Domi being able to get on the ice once again even for fun is awesome for those Leafs fans who clamour for the old days. It's no Mats Sundin, but Domi is just as iconic.
