Knies Talks Maple Leaf Life
Recently signed Maple Leaf Matthew Knies opened up about his NHL debut and what's like to get to play with the Leafs.
"'It was pretty heartbreaking having to say goodbye to those guys and show up and be the new guy here, but they've been really welcoming and I could ask for anything more.'"
He also commented on what it's like to get to play with Leafs star Auston Matthews.
During his 73 games with the Minnesota Gophers, he scored 36 goals and 39 assists.
The 20 year old made his debut with the Leafs on April 10 after Sam Lafferty was injured during practice.
He was signed by the Maple Leafs shortly after an NCAA Championship loss with the Minnesota Gophers. His Minnesota teammate, Brock Faber, also signed an NHL contract, with the Minnesota Wild.
