Wayne Simmonds, who was recently called up from the minors by the Toronto Maple Leafs, is certainly making a case to stay in the lineup for the playoffs.
The 34 year old was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in 2007. He played 3 seasons with the Kings before being traded, along with Brayden Schenn and a 2012 2nd round pick, to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for Rob Bordson and Mike Richards.
Simmonds remained a key part of the Flyers lineup for 7 seasons before being traded to the Nashville Predators in 2019 in exchange for Ryan Hartman and a conditional 2020 4th round pick. Simmonds would find himself playing his last few seasons with the New Jersey Devils and Buffalo Sabres before signing with the Leafs.
