Matthew Knies left practice for the Toronto Maple Leafs after taking an awkward puck to the face.
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies left during the team's practice ahead of tonight's game against the Anaheim Ducks after being hit in the face with the puck.
Knies was involved in the morning practice when a rebound puck off the pad of goaltender Joseph Woll hit Knies in his face, causing him to leave practice for the team.
Knies did not return to the Leafs practice with Easton Cowan taking his spot on the power play for the morning practice.
Luckily for Leafs fans, head coach Craig Berube told reporters after practice that Knies would still be able to go tonight against Anaheim, saying that Knies was alright following the incident.
Knies, 23, has 16 goals, 35 assists, & 51 points in 62 games this season for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Expected Maple Leafs lineup vs Anaheim
In the team's moving skate, Knies was on the Leafs second line alongside John Tavares at center and Max Domi on the right wing.
There's likely no change in that regard, with Knies likely to remain on that second pairing, with Cowan joining Auston Matthews and William Nylander on the first line.
On the third line, Bo Groulx appears in his second game as a Leaf since being called up from the Marlies, appearing alongside Matias Maccelli and Nick Robertson.
On the fourth line is a new face for Toronto, former Hab Michael Pezzetta, making his Leafs debut tonight after being recalled from the AHL earlier this morning.
Dakota Joshua and Steven Lorentz will both sit as Pezzetta comes into the lineup for his first NHL appearance this season.
Troy Stecher is a scratch for the Leafs as Morgan Rielly and Brandon Carlo lead the top unit, with Jake McCabe and Oliver Ekman-Larsson on pairing two, and the bottom unit of Simon Benoit and Philippe Myers.
Joseph Woll gets the start in net for Toronto. Woll, 27, has a 13-11-4 record on the season for the Leafs with a 3.06 GAA and a .905 SV%.
The Leafs look to snap an eight game losing streak against the Anaheim Ducks tonight.
