Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube gave his update regarding Matthew Knies after the star forward suffered an injury during Game 6 on Friday.

As Game 6 went from being an anxiety-riddled contest for fans into a huge sigh of momentary relief once the Maple Leafs took the 2-0 win and tied the series at three apiece, everyone was feeling pretty good heading into a do or die Game 7.
Well, everyone except for Matthew Knies, who no doubt was celebrating his team's victory but had a pretty rough game altogether.
He suffered an injury after Niko Mikkola backed into him with a reverse hit, and was seen grimacing on the bench shortly thereafter.
No word on the severity or nature of the injury, and Craig Berube said that he didn't have any idea until Knies was evaluated. He still didn't know on Saturday however did inform the media that they would know when he does.
Well, now we know what's going on with Knies; at least for the time being.
It seems that what we know is still as much as we did yesterday, and his status for Game 7 will no doubt be revealed fully at game time, but it's truly wait and see.
Knies has been a big bright spot this postseason, scoring seven points in 12 games (5G, 2A) while adding 31 hits.

Toronto Needs Matthew To Heal Up Knies-ly

It's a bit of unfortunate news for Knies, someone who has broke out even more this season but has dealt with some nasty injuries. He had a concussion earlier on this year and now it might be something that takes him out of the playoffs.
What sucks more about the whole situation is that Mikkola wasn't penalized on the play, even though several other players needed to feel the wrath of the NHL for the same thing.
All we can hope for now is that Knies heals up and gets better. While Bobby McMann did a serviceable job up front, he's no replacement for the standout power forward.
He's certainly a unicorn, and Florida went hunting. They may have wounded him, but he's going to come back stronger than ever in Game 7.
At least...we all hope he does.
