The Toronto Maple Leafs finally unveiled their Hometown Remix jerseys ahead of their first 'Retro Night' scheduled for Nov. 7 against Montreal.
Earlier this summer, the NHL announced they were going to be scheduling a series of 'Hometown Remix' nights in order to give fans a bit of a throwback - with a new slate of jerseys slated to be released.
There hasn't been any big updates since then, but we do know that the Toronto Maple Leafs have a total of nine games where they get to sport the new threads, their first being an Original Six battle against their most bitter rivals, Montreal.
Toronto's retro jerseys celebrate 100 years of Maple Leafs history
However on Tuesday we got a bit of an idea of what the Maple Leafs jersey is going to look like, and it's a celebration of Toronto's 100-year celebration after transitioning from the St. Pats to the Maple Leafs:
-
The jersey harkens back to the 1927 season, which was emblazoned with a plain green maple leaf, with Toronto underneath the crest. While it won't be green this time around, it's still a loving homage to the teams of the past.
While it might not rank as highly as some of the other retro jerseys we've seen in the past such as the 'Retro Classic' jersey inspired by the teams of the 1970's, it's still one of the cleaner ones they've had in recent years.
The rest of the NHL throwbacks are just as nostalgic
Though it's obviously not just the Maple Leafs who get the throwback threads, as we get the rest of the NHL's retro looks, and some are quite the spectacle:
-
The Islander, Panthers, Ducks and Capitals all have pretty slick threads but then there are some others like Montreal, Loa Angeles and Carolina who have some questionable design choices.
While these are not official, and the jerseys themselves may differ slightly from the final product, this gives us a general idea of what the designs are going to look like once teams take the ice for their first Hometown Remix game.
What grade would you give the Maple Leafs 'Hometown Remix' jerseys?
