Maple Leafs share update on Timothy Liljegren and Joel Edmundson
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been dealing with injuries on defense all season long. Today the team provided a major update on two of those injured defensemen Timothy Liljegren and Joel Edmundson.
During his press conference this afternoon Sheldon Keefe shared some major information on the injuries sustained by Timothy Liljegren and Joel Edmundson. Maple Leafs fans might want to look away as the updates are not hopeful for either player to return soon. Both will likely be out week to week with their respective injuries.
Keefe says timeline for Timothy Liljegren's injury is "not exactly set, but ... it's more week-to-week ... not expecting, at this point, [for it] to outlast the regular season"
Same for Joel Edmundson?
"Similar, yeah"
Both are expected back for the playoffs but this is disappointing news. In the case of Joel Edmundson, this is especially frustrating as the Maple Leafs gave up assets at the trade deadline for him to help the team.
While we likely won't hear any more information on either Joel Edmunson or Timothy Liljegren until they are back on the ice all eyes will be on their recovery. Once updates are shared on their return we will pass them along to you.
