Rifai has played in two NHL games for the Maple Leafs this season going pointless. Through 49 games with the Toronto Marlies, Rifai has scored 2 goals, 15 assists, and 17 points as a defensively focused defenseman.
The Quebec native is in his second professional season after spending four years playing for Harvard in the NCAA. Rafai has always been willing to drop the mitts for Toronto as he averages well over a PIM a game with the Marlies over the past two seasons.
We still await word on whether or not Rafai will play tonight during the Maple Leafs game against the Florida Panthers. His status is likely dependent on whether or not Morgan Rielly will make his return tonight as Rielly has missed the past three games with an upper-body injury.
