The Toronto Maple Leafs added some tension already with Mitch Marner's departure, choosing to dislike the social media post after previously showing him praise.

While everyone wants to try and move on from the Mitch Marner saga; the player focusing on a new season and career in Vegas meanwhile the Maple Leafs try to adjust to life without him.
It won't be easy, and finding someone who adds the level of dynamic offensive ability as Marner is part of exclusive company; and involve a price that is too high to pay for Toronto.
But they are going in a different direction, using grit and passion to win games tooth and nail, and less offense is a byproduct of that.

Marner's former teammates irked with his attitude

But it seems that while Marner is soon to forget his old club, happy to move to Sin City with warmer weather and a much dimmer spotlight, his teammates don't feel the same sentiment, and seem to be pretty peeved with his attitude.
Marner took the time to thank the Maple Leafs, their fans, and everyone involved in the first nine years of his career, and while his former teammates showed their appreciation, it seems that honeymoon phase is over.
It wasn't just that the team was apathetic in promoting Marner's thank you, but the initial post was discovered to be disliked by several of his compadres including William Nylander and shockingly; Sam Bennett.
It goes to show that while his teammates were always gracious and kind to Marner, they harbour a bit of resentment for his attitude and how he continually tried to make things about himself.

Good riddance, Mitch

It also comes after his press conference in Vegas where he basically admitted to being one foot out the door in mid-winter and was already dead set on Vegas as his future home.
While it may seem a bit petty, or innocent enough; these players can do what they please on social media, the flurry of take-backs from everyone ranging from Leafs stars, to other team's superstars might send a clear message; Marner was not a great locker room presence.
If that press conference was any indication, it seems the Marner camp and everyone involved simply continued their nonsense in Vegas, and Toronto may have dodged a bullet.
So while it may be much ado about nothing, the fact that Marner is already being quickly forgotten just goes to show that loyalty and passion will always be respected more than chasing the almighty dollar.
