The Toronto Maple Leafs organization announced two contract signatures in the AHL, including a 6-foot-1 gritty defenseman.
While Brad Treliving made sure to revamp the Toronto Maple Leafs' blue line this summer with key acquisitions like Chris Tanev and Oliver Ekman-Larsson, it looks like he hasn't forgotten about the Toronto Marlies.
In breaking news, it has been revealed that they signed two promising players: Matteo Pietroniro and Zach Solow.
"The Toronto Marlies are re-signing LHD Matteo Pietroniro to an AHL contract for 2024-25.
Pietroniro recorded 9 points (2G-7A) and 66 PIM in 40GP with AHL-Toronto this past season. "
-
"The Toronto Marlies are also re-signing forward Zach Solow to an AHL deal.
Solow tallied 11G-15A and 132PIM in 66GP with the Marlies this past season."
-
Pietroniro, 25, undrafted, will play his fourth season with the Marlies. He's a gritty defenseman who's not afraid to block shots and lay hits. He doesn't often contribute offensively, but when he does, it looks like this:

As for Solow, a 26-year-old right winger, played the past two seasons for Toronto in the AHL.

The Marlies are gearing up for another season as they'll try to get past the first round of the AHL playoffs, following a disappointing elimination at the hands of the Belleville Senators.
Do you think the Toronto Maple Leafs made the right move by signing these two players?
