The Toronto Maple Leafs officially placed forward Ty Voit on unconditional waivers in order to terminate his contract and make him a free agent per Elliotte Friedman.

According to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman, Maple Leafs forward Ty Voit, who spent his time primarily with the team's ECHL affiliates, has been placed on unconditional waivers with the idea of terminating his contract.
He also joins Carolina's Joni Jurmo on waivers, as both men are going to get a new lease on their careers.
Voit was drafted 153rd overall by the Maple Leafs in 2021, and spent three seasons in the Leafs organization, suiting up primarily for their ECHL affiliates the Newfoundland Growlers and Cincinnati Cyclones.
Voit played one game for the Marlies but didn't register a point.

Who was Ty Voit

A stellar OHL career never translated at the pro level, but there's a good reason the Maple Leafs took a chance on him.
In 183 games with Sarnia, he registered 213 points (58 goals, 155 assists) and added 22 points in 22 playoff games (5 goals, 17 assists).
Expected to be one of the team's brightest future playmakers, he never found his footing and with Toronto moving in a different direction this season, they need room for other players.
Voit was also fairly undersized, and in this regime that just won't cut it. At 5'10 and only 157 pounds he's as light as a feather, and will likely get pushed around more and more until he adds a bit more size.
With the multitude of signings over the year, from NCAA stars to fringe NHL players, there was no real spot for Voit, and with the team needing space, he had to go.
He can hopefully pick things back up and find a spot elsewhere, though could make his way overseas and continue his career there and hope for a spot down the line.
