Who To Watch During Maple Leafs and Senators Preseason Clash
It's not surprising to see the top line of Auston Matthews, Matthew Knies and Matias Maccelli, as the latter was expected to get a lot of attention with Max Domi out of the picture for the time being.
Look for Maccelli to try and gain some early chemistry with his line mates has he continues to try and stake his claim as the guy to replace Mitch Marner on the first line.
The second line is also pretty standard with Bobby McMann lining up with John Tavares and William Nylander, as the latter two are trying to gain some confidence to build off their stellar 2024 seasons.
The third line would normally see Nic Roy down the middle but with him still injured, we get Luke Haymes; Toronto's NCAA star instead. Playing very well in both the Prospect Showcase and the first preseason game, it's clear Craig Berube likes what he sees.
The fourth line is not too shocking to see with Steven Lorentz and Scott Laughton however Easton Cowan down there will also bring a new dynamic to the line with a ton of offense in addition to some grit; and both Lorentz and Laughton are decently capable offensively as well.
Dennis Hildeby gets the start for the Maple Leafs fresh off a new extension as he continues to try and find his footing in the NHL and make Toronto's life a little easier as they face uncertainty around an Anthony Stolarz extension.
For those wishing to watch the broadcast, it will be available on both TSN4 and TSN5; the game is scheduled to start at 7pm ET.
