The Toronto Maple Leafs may have come up with the solution they need to maximize their bottom-six with the Stanley Cup Playoffs right around the corner.

One of the most critical opening rounds of the Stanley Cup Playoffs later this month will take place for the Toronto Maple Leafs, who must go on an extended run to avoid what would be monumental changes over the summer.
And the key to maximizing production out of their bottom-6 may have been unlocked. Forward Nicholas Robertson scored twice in his club's 5-0 win on Saturday over the Columbus Blue Jackets after being made a healthy scratch in the last three prior contests.
As Robertson said, it gives him hunger to have to watch the rest of his teammates play, knowing that he can contribute.
It gives me a reset. It gives you even more of that hunger.

Robertson continued:
I'm not the biggest guy, but I can do the little things, get touches on guys and limit rush plays by finishing my checks.

Stick to my strengths (a great release), but also provide speed and physicality.

Robertson's teammate William Nylander, who also scored twice, said that he felt Robertson's time off from the lineup actually helps to maximize his potential.
It's incredible, I feel like it's automatic every time he rests.

Robertson skated on a line against the Blue Jackets with Pontus Holmberg and Steven Lorentz. He now has 21 points (14G, 7A) in 63 games this year.
He'll be a restricted free agent in the summer, and will be among the many upcoming decisions for GM Brad Treliving to consider.
