After making a trade with the Vancouver Canucks to acquire Aatu Raty, the Toronto Maple Leafs have made a critical decision involving the center's roster status.
Earlier this evening, the Toronto Maple Leafs traded Brandon Buhr and Jacob Quillan to the Vancouver Canucks for 6-foot-2 center Aatu Raty.
Raty is 23 years old and has potential, although he still has some development to go, and there is no telling what his ceiling in the NHL will be.
However, when it came to Buhr and Quillan, it was becoming clear that they were products of the former regime, and just didn't have much space with the franchise.
Following the Raty trade, there were questions about whether or not he would end up on the Leafs' roster going forward. Today, we got our answer.
According to reports, Raty has officially been sent down to the AHL. He will be playing for the Toronto Marlies for the forseeable future.

In addition to sending Raty down to the American Hockey League, the Maple Leafs made another eye-opening move that has caught some attention.
Miles Wood goes on IR
Miles Wood, a forward acquired in the Kirill Marchenko trade, has been placed on the injured reserve as he is dealing with an undisclosed injury.
Wood has not been given many opportunities to get into the lineup, and some believe that he will be used as trade fodder in very short order.
However, now that is on the injured reserve, the Maple Leafs will need to wait a while before every turning that into a reality.
Whatever the case may be, the Maple Leafs have been making moves as of late, with Raty being the second big trade Chayka has made since the start of the season.
Do you believe Aatu Raty should be on the Leafs roster?
