In what may be an unexpected first-time feat for the Leafs in its longstanding history, the team managed to set a new accomplishment not done in the past.
For the first time in Leafs history, their two leading netminders have netted 20 wins with Toronto in the same NHL season.
Anthony Stolarz's win against the Montreal Canadiens in a defensive 1-0 overtime win is his 20th victory on the year.
Stolarz now has a 20-8-3 record in 34 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs this season.
Alongside him is
Joseph Woll with a 25-14-1 record in 41 games played this season.
Toronto Maple Leafs goalie record not the biggest surprise
It's not a major shock the Leafs have gone this long without having a goaltending tandem to not share an equal spotlight the way Stolarz and Woll have with their results.
Toronto has largely been dependent in the 20th century on a single goalie in most cases to take the bulk of the team's workload in the net.
The Leafs came close to this feat in the 2022-23 season, with
Ilya Samsonov netting 27 wins, sharing the net with
Matt Murray who had 14 wins in just 26 games being limited due to injury.
In replacement, Joseph Woll & Erik Kallgren secured 9 wins in net for Toronto, which, if started by Murray, would've given him 23 wins on the season.
The Toronto Maple Leafs will look to keep what has been one of the reliable netminder duos hot, although it will come as head coach Craig Berube has indicated that he may be reliant
on just one starter in net come playoff time.
In Toronto's case, the duo of Anthony Stolarz and Joseph Woll has made for a dilemma in Berube's plan to give the best goaltender the full playoff nod with equally impressive results.
