Toronto Maple Leafs fans can potentially breathe a sigh of relief when it comes to their issues last season, as it seems the moves they made are going to pay off.

There were several issues with the Maple Leafs last season with how the team was constructed and Brad Treliving did what he could to at least try and address some problems but it was a band-aid on a cannonball wound.

The 3 Problems That Frustrated Leafs Fans Last Season

They tried to get a 3C in Scott Laughton but he never really gelled with the club in his short time so far, and there are still questions about their top-six and where the heck certain players fit in the team.
It's night and day now, and the depth the team added is a wild change from the likes of Ryan Reaves and Pontus Holmberg.
It was a laundry list of priorities for Brad Treliving, but so far with the moves he made this offseason, there is no doubt that he made the necessary changes to give the team exactly what they need.

Why These Offseason Moves Could Finally Solve Them

They got themselves as good a 3C as they can in Nic Roy, who has the potential to play anywhere in the lineup though it did cost Mitch Marner (but hey, they at least got something for him) and then acquired both Matias Maccelli and Dakota Joshua for draft picks.
Maccelli, while young at 24 and still a bit green, has a load of potential and could end up being a lite version of Mitch Marner if his playmaking can click with guys like William Nylander and John Tavares, and the chance to play with the elite talent Toronto has might motivate him to push harder and become better.
Plus, now you have someone in Joshua who can not only come in and score, be physical, and add the intimidation Toronto needs, but he is a much better third-liner than Domi, who is likely going to play with Auston Matthews the majority of the year.
That's a really tough ask considering how hot and cold Domi has been, and he could also be on the chopping block, especially now the team will tend to focus on players like Nick Robertson and Easton Cowan to build around later on.
Plus, they added Pezzetta as an insurance policy and someone who can step in when the team needs a bit more toughness, and he has some surprising offensive chops too.
This new Maple Leafs team is built on committee, and it finally seems like they have a focused direction to where they want to go.
It's different, it's going to look wonky, and it's far gone from what we've grown to expect.
But that change could be enough to shock the team into doing something they've otherwise found impossible.
