The Toronto Maple Leafs added more depth on Friday by signing Cédric Paré and Sam Stevens to AHL contracts.

Brad Treliving and the Toronto Maple Leafs are continuing to add to their depth with yet another group of free agent signings, though this time it's only two.
The Maple Leafs organization via their AHL affiliate the Toronto Marlies announced the signings of Cedric Pare and Sam Stevens to AHL deals.

Pare and Stevens join flurry of dept free agent signings

The move brings Pare and Stevens back after they were members of the Marlies last season, and will add even more depth and insurance in case of injuries and call-ups.
They join the recent signings of Vinni Lettieri, Bo Groulx, Travis Boyd, Ryan McCleary, Gunnarwolfe Fontaine, Ben King and several others over the past few weeks.

Who are Sam Stevens and Cedric Pare?

Pare, 26, hasn't reached the NHL level yet and has firmly been an AHLer for his career thus far. Drafted 173rd overall by the Bruins in 2017, he's bounced around between teams in his career, being in the ECHL with Pittsburgh and Anaheim's affiliates, as well as Ottawa, Colorado and Toronto's junior squads in the AHL.
Signed last season to one-year deal as well, Pare will more than likely serve as a top-nine player for the Marlies and if he plays well enough, he can potentially make a claim to be a call-up.
Stevens, 25, was an undrafted free agent out of Boston University where he put up decent numbers but wasn't anything spectacular offensively.
He's spent the last two seasons in the Marlies system, but has only appeared in 22 games for the club in those seasons. He'll add another center to the Marlies system that includes Pare, Jacob Quillan, Logan Shaw, Luke Haymes, and Reese Johnson.
Again, Brad Treliving is just trying to make sure he has all his ducks in a row before trying to land a big fish, and the signings of Pare and Stevens keep his AHL roster stocked, while giving Toronto two young solid pieces.
But now he needs to make a big splash, and shouldn't wait to do it either.
