Maple Leafs become the first big test for the Oilers after polarizing trade

After Edmonton made a polarizing trade swapping goaltenders, the Toronto Maple Leafs are going to be their first big test as they look to bounce back from a loss.
On Friday, it was a hectic and exciting day as we saw two big trades, with the Edmonton Oilers kickstarting the festivities when they traded Stuart Skinner, Brett Kulak and a first-round pick to Pittsburgh for Tristan Jarry and Samuel Poulin.
While it was completely overshadowed by the Quinn Hughes blockbuster later on Friday, it was still an impactful albeit polarizing trade. The Oilers faithful were frustrated that the team let go of a younger, healthier goalie just because of some inconsistencies.
But it remains now that Tristan Jarry is going to be a big part of Edmonton going forward, and his first real test lies in a team he knows all too well.
Tristan's first test will be a massive one in Toronto
Getting the nod against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Jarry is going to have his hands full, especially knowing how hungry the Leafs are to make a statement after Thursday night.
Jarry hasn't had the best numbers against Toronto even if he has a positive record. Though he's 6-4-0 lifetime, he has a 3.04 GAA and .897 SV%; he hasn't been awful, but hasn't been outstanding either.
This season has been a rough one against Toronto yet again, as he has a 0-1-0 record in two games with seven goals against on 33 shots; a 4.52 GAA and a .788 SV% though one of those was in relief of Artur Silovs.
Plus, the Maple Leafs are going to have Oliver Ekman-Larsson back after what could have been a catastrophe, although William Nylander and Dakota Joshua missed practice on Saturday with illnesses, and they are a game-time decision.
But whoever comes in to replace them if needed has to keep the foot on the gas against Jarry. Pittsburgh and Edmonton don't have the world's strongest defense, and if Toronto can get to Jarry early like they have in the past; it could be a short night for the newcomer.
Not to mention this is Troy Stecher's first time against his former team after being waived, and he no doubt also has a bit of a chip on his shoulder to prove to them why it was a bad idea to let him go (especially after trading away another defender).
Jarry's got a lot of pressure and anxious Oilers fans waiting to see if he's their answer to the goaltending issues. But he's coming up against a Toronto team ready to strike, and one who has had his number more times than not.
