Anthony Stolarz was knocked out of the first game of Florida and Toronto's second round series and there's been
no timeline for his return. His status for the rest of the series was put into question, but his emergence at practice gives fans hope that a potential return is in the works.
Stolarz was seen with goaltending coach Curtis Sanford doing some drills and working towards getting back into game shape.
It doesn't necessarily mean that Stolarz will return for Wednesday's Game 5, but if he keeps progressing well, could play in Game 6 or an even more crucial Game 7.
Anthony Stolarz On The Mend; Joseph Woll Still Takes The Reins
Before he was taken out by former teammate
Sam Bennett thanks to an errant elbow,
Stolarz was shining bright in his first playoffs as a starter.
He's posted a 4-2-0 record with a 2.19 GAA and .901 SV% and no doubt kept Toronto in close games this postseason.
The onus will most likely continue to fall on Joseph Woll until Stolarz makes his return, and while he's been solid for the most part; there are still concerns about
if Woll can handle the pressure.Woll's been slightly worse this season, posting a 2-2-0 record with a 3.51 GAA and .893 SV%; he was way better in Game 4, however the rest of the team left a lot to be desired.
If
Woll continues to struggle, the Maple Leafs do have
Matt Murray to back him up, and while he hasn't played at all this postseason, and rarely in the regular season, he is a two-time Cup winner with the stats to back it up.
Desperate times call for desperate measures, and Toronto's current situation is only going to grow more dire each game Stolarz misses.
Though it looks like he's on the road to recovery, and could be the reason Toronto makes it out of the series, and the playoffs alive.
