The Toronto Maple Leafs are reportedly in the market for another defenseman. Brad Treliving has already indicated that some players are untouchable, but it seems like the team may be preparing to deal one of their top prospects at the trade deadline after all.

Robertson Held Out Of Lineup With Toronto Marlies

The team recently sent 22-year-old forward Nick Robertson down to the American Hockey League. While the move was initially seen as a move to collect more cap space ahead of Friday's trade deadline, it now seems as though a trade may be in the works for the young winger. He has not been called up to the Leafs, but he is being held out of the Marlies lineup today.

Leafs Claim Robertson Scratch Due To Health Concerns

It is being reported that the team is holding him out just to make sure he does not get injured before the team needs to call him up. While injuries have been a serious problem for the team this year, this seems unlikely as the trade deadline is just days away. Additionally, Robertson should be playing if the team plans to call him up soon so he stays in game shape.

Nick Robertson is not in the Marlies lineup today after getting assigned to the AHL. Believe this is about limiting his risk of injury as he continues to work with the team's development staff.

On the other hand, if Robertson was at all involved in trade negotiations, then it would make sense for Brad Treliving to protect his asset. We have already heard that prospects Fraser Minten and Easton Cowan are off the table, but the same has not been said about Robertson. As such, he very well could be on his way out of Toronto this season.
