Leaked Video Emerges of Supposed Incident the NHL Is Investigating Between Maple Leafs and Senators
We have a leaked video showing the potential pre-game incident the Senators and Maple Leafs were involved with, and it shows how much these two hate each other.
Game 3 of the Battle of Ontario was set to be one full of intensity and animosity between the two provincial rivals. It was a testy affair that saw the Maple Leafs relentlessly hounded all night from not only the Senators team, but the crowd as well.
We have some leaked footage of the supposed incident, and while it isn't confirmed to be the exact event, it gives a very good idea as to what went down.
You can see
Nick Cousins during his skate around take a shot towards
Anthony Stolarz while he was simply warming up against the boards.
However, it may not just be the only incident. According to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun and beat writer for the Ottawa Senators; Toronto wasn't exactly innocent.
It seems the Maple Leafs may have had a couple of 'errant' pucks head down the Ottawa end as a way to play some mind games and gain every bit of an advantage heading into a potential series-sweeping matchup.
NHL Insider Darren Dreger confirmed the incident in question was the Senators shooting pucks toward Anthony Stolarz, with the Maple Leafs seemingly responding in kind.
Thankfully there was at least one Ottawa player who didn't take kindly to his team's antics, as
Tim Stutzle tried to corral a lobbed puck before anything happened.
It's unknown what types of punishments are in store, if any. While it's very unlikely anyone gets a suspension from this, there very well might be fines and extra emphasis on patrolling what goes on. The refs have given some rope for both teams this series, they just can't hang themselves with it.
