NHL Officially Investigating Pregame Incident Between Maple Leafs and Senators Before Game 3
The NHL is apparently investigating an incident between Toronto and Ottawa before Game 3 started as there were some supposed 'shenanigans' afoot.
But according to NHL Insider Darren Dreger, the NHL is apparently investigating something that happened before Game 3 even started.
Dreger played coy as to what the incident could be, and there's no real indication as to what's going on, but we'll have a better idea later on.
The NHL is seemingly trying to crack down on these types of incidents during the pre-game warmups and are more than willing to punish players, and are just trying to give players a chance to get things out during the game, where it can be monitored more efficiently.
The incident in question has a bit more information attached to it, as not only did Dreger confirm that the incident in question involved
Nick Cousins shooting a puck towards
Anthony Stolarz, but other sources state it was more than just Cousins causing issues.
While things didn't really boil over in Game 3 to the point where referees needed to intervene, these types of shenanigans as they've been so delightfully called, don't really have a place, and it reeks of desperation on the Senators behalf.
While we don't know of any punishment as of yet, if the NHL wants to crack down on this type of behavior, they have to do something.
Guess we'll just need to wait and see how this whole tense and frankly, ridiculous situation plays out.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned for details.
