Leafs top prospect Easton Cowan named OHL MVP
After an incredible season, top Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan has been rewarded with an incredible honour.
While the Maple Leafs are making a push in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, they've got several prospects doing some great work, but most of all Easton Cowan of the London Knights. On Thursday, the 18-year old was officially announced as the 2023-24 Most Outstanding Player in the OHL, as the No. 28 pick in the 2023 NHL Draft excelled all season long.
2024 #OHLAwards 🏆:
Turning heads with a @LondonKnights franchise record 36-game point streak as part of a 96-point season, @MapleLeafs first round #NHLDraft pick Easton Cowan is the 2023-24 recipient of the Red Tilson Trophy as the #OHL's Most Outstanding Player.
In 54 games, Cowan amassed an impressive 34 goals and 96 points, including an incredible 36-game point streak to end the season, and at 18-years old, he's showing Toronto all the potential that they had hoped for.
It's unclear where he fits in with the current Maple Leafs lineup, but if the team lose in the Stanley Cup Playoffs this season, changes may be coming, and if he impresses the organization, he could be an NHL regular sooner than expected.
