Laurent Brossoit linked to the Maple Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been linked to Winnipeg Jets goaltender Laurent Brossoit in the latest rumors surrounding the team.
The Leafs are in need of at least one new goaltender next season. Right now, the only goaltender under contract with the team next year that has NHL experience is Joseph Woll. Both Martin Jones and Ilya Samsonov are unrestricted free agents, and both are unlikely to be returning.

Leafs reporter Joshua Kloke argues that Laurent Brossoit should be a priority target for the Leafs. The 31-year-old has never been given a starter's role in the NHL, but his numbers over the last two seasons have been remarkable in a backup role. He could be the perfect goalie to pair with the young Woll.
Brossoit should be at the top of the list. The Jets netminder is highly valued by goalie evaluators throughout the league as something of a sleeping giant.
NHL teams want to know how much of a workload Brossoit can handle. They should feel confident, though, because, after hip surgery in 2022, Brossoit is playing pain-free for the first time since his junior career and his numbers reflect that. Over the past two seasons, Brossoit's .927 save percentage is tops in the NHL among goalies with a regular workload.

It could be seen as a risk going with a Brossoit Woll tandem next season. After all, neither goaltender has been a starter at the NHL level. However, the team is reportedly very high on Woll, and expects him to be the starter of the future. Brossoit could be a perfect mentor to share the net in a tandem role for a season or two as Woll establishes himself in the league.
