MLSE and Keith Pelley are keeping tabs on the entire Toronto Maple Leafs organization top to bottom, according to Darren Dreger.

A report from TSN hockey insider Darren Dreger reveals that the Toronto Maple Leafs parent company, MLSE, is speaking personally with staff 1-on-1, as well as with leaders across the league.
Dreger says that there is "urgency" regarding the future of Leafs GM Brad Treliving, as MLSE CEO Keith Pelley holds talks with rivals.
It's unknown what is being spoken about specifically in conversations had with Keith Pelley, or with whom, but appear to give a glimpse as Pelley seeks answers on the future of his general manager.
The urgency comes as an early offseason looms, and a decision on if the Leafs can go another draft and free agency with Brad Treliving at the helm.

Brad Treliving faces intense uncertainty as Keith Pelley seeks outside advice on the future of the roster

Keith Pelley is speaking to people outside of the league as Brad Treliving's job faces intense scrutiny after a disappointing season for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Leafs sit seventh in the Atlantic Divison with 73 points, three points ahead of Florida, but with three fewer games remaining. Toronto has a 31-29-13 record on the season.
Looking as good as done, and lacking any serious fight, questions are raised at Treliving's roster construction, especially in the wake of losing star forward Mitch Marner.
The Leafs management plan under Treliving had Toronto get bigger and stronger, as well as older. Toronto hasn't shown that physical edge as consistently as would have been liked, and neither was Marner's production replaced.
Treliving's trade strategy has also come under fire, with eventual depth pieces in Brandon Carlo and Scott Laughton costing Totonto a first, while failing to get a first back for top-six forward Bobby McMann.
Consistent injuries to key players have done little to take away the criticism at Treliving over taking a consistent playoff team into the league's basement.

Keith Pelley may already be evaluating internal and external candidates to replace Brad Treliving

Keith Pelley may already know what he wants to do with Brad Treliving, but it may not come so easy.
Treliving is under contract until the end of the 2026-27 season. A recent update from Darren Dreger said that the Leafs would rather not be paying two GM's next season, potentially holding an ultimatum on Treliving's future off until next year.
Speaking both internally and externally, Pelley could be seeing the market for the Leafs next GM. In house, assistant GM Brandon Pridham is a highly touted AGM, having been with the team for over a decade.
Former St. Louis Blues and Hockey Canada GM Doug Armstrong is another popular pick for an outside hire, but it hasn't been indicated that there's anything more than rumors there.
Regardless of how the rest of this season goes, Brad Treliving's future for next season may have already been decided by what they've seen out of him as the Leafs GM.
