On Leafs Morning Take, both David Pagnotta and Nick Alberga discussed the potential of a Joseph Woll trade as something to really shake the Maple Leafs up.

There's been a lot of talk about which player for the Toronto Maple Leafs is going to be on the move this season. Bobby McMann and Oliver Ekman-Larsson are two names who are the most likely candidates though there are several more who could be on the move.
But one focal point has not been on the goaltenders at least when it comes to trade conversation and while there has been some brief speculation here and there, nothing concrete has come about.

Does Joseph Woll get traded? It's an interesting scenario

With the team desperate to make serious changes and contenders looking for improvements in the crease, the Maple Leafs may have a chance to do something a bit crazy but highly beneficial -- at least according to two analysts.
Nick Alberga and David Pagnotta were discussing the Maple Leafs' options at the deadline and the question of whether or not Joseph Woll would get a look, with Pagnotta explaining that a team like Philadelphia could very well be in the mix:
When you're talking to Woll/Stolarz discussion, you have to look at a team that is also growing and building and need to stabilize their goalie position.

Philadelphia? Owen Tippett perhaps? I don't know if that's of interest. But Philly's got problems up the wazoo with their goaltending, so Tippett for Woll or something of a bigger package for Woll -- maybe there's more to it.

Personally, I'd have that conversation.
It would certainly be interesting to see the Maple Leafs decide to move on from Woll especially after investing so much in him, but if it brings a piece like Tippett aboard then maybe there's a method to the madness.

Why it isn't too crazy to trade Joseph Woll for Owen Tippett

With Anthony Stolarz locked up long-term, Dennis Hildeby being a perfectly fine backup, not to mention Artur Akhtyamov waiting in the wings; there are four goalies to deal with and Toronto has to make a choice.
If you're looking to reshape and rebuild your roster, keeping the veteran Stolarz along with the young Hildeby is a great combo that can still put wins together even if not at an elite pace.
Bringing in Tippett is a very solid move for a team desperate to add some extra star power into their lineup. He's a perennial 20-goal scorer, only 27 years old and is certainly a physical presence given his 657 career hits.
Plus at only $6.2-million he wouldn't be the most expensive option and he's locked up until 2032. That gives Toronto an option for the future and if Philadelphia is so dead set on moving on from Tippett then it's a perfect partnership.
While the Maple Leafs may not make this deal right now, it's something they need to keep in their back pocked because come summertime the changes are going to be aplenty -- and Woll very well could be a key part in reshaping Toronto.
