Joseph Woll breaks silence after stunning performance vs the Bruins
The Toronto Maple Leafs saved their season on Tuesday night behind an impressive night from Joseph Woll, and now the young goaltender has opened up.
While the odds were stacked against them heading into game five in Boston, the Maple Leafs stepped up with a huge defensive performance, as Matthew Knies netted the game winner in OT to give them a 2-1 victory.
That was an impressive finish for the 21-year old, but it was another young name that stole the show, as Joseph Woll made his first start of the playoffs, saving 27 of the 28 shots he saw on the night. It was a much needed performance after the team gave up seven goals in the two games played in Toronto, and now the young net minder has opened up on the fun he had in hostile territory.
I'm having the time of my life out there.
It's clear that in the NHL, there are some players that aren't built to stand up in the big moments, but Woll certainly isn't one of those, as he relished the opportunity to steal a big game on the road in Boston. Now, he's likely established himself as the starter for the Maple Leafs going forward, and as they face another elimination game at home, they will hope Woll can continue his impressive start to his playoff career.
