Legendary broadcaster Joe Bowen may be retiring at the end of this year but he's making sure to leave us with some iconic calls like he did on Thursday night.
It's going to be a weird feeling next year when Maple Leafs fans don't get to hear legendary broadcaster Joe Bowen bark his passionate play-by-play after stepping away from the job after 44 years.
The team has already celebrated Bowen with a special night filled with tributes, festivities, and a come from behind victory that capped off a wonderful night to honour an even better human being.

But he's still in the booth this season, and he's sure to make it as iconic as ever with his latest call as impassioned as we've ever heard Bowen before:

Bowen nearly peaked the mic when he celebrated Matthews' goal, and even more impressively; he was even more passionate when Dennis Hildeby made a save in the final seconds of the game to preserve the lead:
Oh my goodness! What a save by Hildeby! They still have the puck, they shoot it wide! Game over!! The game is over!! The Hildebeast saves the game!
It was Matthews' first hat-trick since February 17, 2024 when he had a trio of goals in a 9-2 drubbing of the Anaheim Ducks. He's yet to reach the four-goal mark since his NHL debut way back in 2016.
The Maple Leafs have been playing much better as of late, and the more they gather momentum, the more we can expect these types of calls from Bowen.
Which is how it should be, as there's nobody like Bowen and his legacy in Toronto will forever be remembered by older fans, current day fans, and future ones as no doubt will his iconic calls be passed down for generations.
