Ilya Samsonov Is Projected To Start Tomorrow Against Carolina

After a difficult start to the year Samsonov is back on track and playing some of the best hockey of his career. If the Maple Leafs are going to knock off the Hurricanes Samsonov will need to continue his incredible stretch of play.

Over the last 2 months Ilya Samsonov has been one of the best goaltenders in the NHL. In that time he has only lost twice and leads the league in wins.

He has also been a monster on the road racking up 7 straight road wins. This will be key going forward even though the matchup against the Hurricanes will be played in Toronto.

At the beginning of the season, it looked as though the Toronto Maple Leafs had a goaltender crisis. Relying on young goalie Joseph Woll was never going to be the ideal solution. Now with Samsonov's return to form the Maple Leafs have one less thing to worry about heading into the stretch run.
