Despite playing in his first full NHL season in 2023/24, Nick Robertson is unhappy with the role that he's been given by the Toronto Maple Leafs, and earlier this summer, he reportedly gave a trade request to General Manager Brad Treliving.
We are yet to see very little movement from the Maple Leafs, and with training camp rapidly approaching, it appears as though unless something changes quickly, he may head into the 2024/25 season with the organization. One person that may please is former Leaf Frankie Corraado, who has made his admiration for Robertson's game known, urging the team to not give up on Robertson.
However, Corrado believes that Robertson has one major flaw, and that's his awareness in the offensive zone.
Ultimately, with the lineup that Toronto have, they should be rushing to give someone like Robertson a role in the bottom-six, but they clearly have no interest in doing that, with a trade making the most sense.
CAs of right now, nothing is imminent, but at 22-years of age, Robertson has a very bright future, so expect Toronto to look for a move in the near future as they once more chase the Stanley Cup.
