Gord Stellick, former GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs turned broadcaster, has announced a tragedy that affected him and his family over the weekend.
Stellick used to not only be the GM of the Leafs, but he was also that of the New York Rangers. Today, he is a beloved broadcaster that Canadians have been listening to on their radios for several years.
Stellick sadly announced on social media that his family suffered a terrible tragedy last week. His sister Karen Hardie tragically passed away after her battle with cancer. Gord said she put up a good fight and battled hard, but it was ultimately all too much for her.
Bob, Craig and our mother Rhoda are mourning the passing of our younger sister Karen Hardie earlier today after an inspiring 2 1/2 year battle with cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with her husband Brad, her children Graeme and Laura and future daughter-in-law Aayushi.
Fans of the game can listen to Stellick every day on The Fan 590 or SiriusXM Satellite Radio's NHL Network Radio, and he has touched and continues to touch the lives of many fans around the league. Familiar faces around the game and in entertainment have begun sending Gord their best wishes during this very difficult time.
Everyone here at Hockey Patrol would like to offer Gord and his entire family our deepest condolences during this time. Stay strong Gord, you've got this!
