Former Maple Leaf forward and NHL Analyst Colby Armstrong made some waves recently when he suggested Mitch Marner could consider reuniting with his old GM.

With the question surrounding whether or not Mitch Marner is going to re-sign with the Maple Leafs or test free agency a very integral one to the future of the team, we'd love to have an answer one way or another.
There's a lot of spots for Marner to land if he decides that Toronto doesn't offer him a suitable amount of money. Chicago, Columbus, and even potentially Florida could all make plays for the superstar winger; the top free agent prize on the market.
But for former Leafs forward and current NHL Analyst Colby Armstrong, he believes there may be a dark horse candidate who could sign Marner, and they have a massive leg up on the competition.
Armstrong noted that with Pittsburgh's increased amount of salary cap room, perhaps Kyle Dubas can take a swing at acquiring his former player and employ him once again.

Does Mitch Marner Want To Play For Pittsburgh?

It's definitely interesting given how Pittsburgh is in a middling state, and aren't ready to win yet. Does Marner fix that? Playing on a team with Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Rickard Rakell and find some chemistry with young forwards like Philip Tomasino.
It would also reunite Marner with two former teammates in Connor Dewar and Conor Timmins (if Pittsburgh re-signs them). Marner has a lot of connections to the Penguins, and getting the chance to play with Sidney Crosby is a dream come true in and of itself.
Marner has been in the middle of his best season yet, with 80 points in 63 games (21G, 59A) and has been the team's MVP for pretty much the entire year.
He's expected to command a huge payday, though Toronto is close to an extension; however things seem to be at an impasse over a few hundred thousand dollars which in today's modern NHL is such a minuscule amount that it leaves one to question what exactly is the game plan with Marner.
Kyle Dubas hopes it involves giving the Penguins a chance, and to play with the legends they have; it might be too enticing to pass up.
