First look at Gavin McKenna in full Maple Leafs uniform turns heads

Maple Leafs fans go their first look of Gavin McKenna in full Maple Leafs threads as he took the ice to show off some handles in a promotional video.

This is just the next step for McKenna in the organization after being drafted first overall this past June and it gives everyone a bit of a teaser as he continues his transition from prospect NHL player.

McKenna stepped onto the ice and did a bit of stick-handling, and the video, produced by Bauer Hockey also showed McKenna shooting a couple of pucks, and getting a chance to show off a bit of his talent.

It appears to be the first time any fans have been able to see McKenna suited up as a Maple Leaf and it's going to only drive up the hype even more as we inch closer to the season opening up and only heighten anticipation.

This video doesn't really give any indication of where he's going to play or anything of that nature but it's a great little tease for those fans who are waiting for summer to end so that training camp can get kicked off.

Toronto fans get a glimpse of the future early

The Maple Leafs are no doubt expecting to have McKenna as part of their long-term plans as the first overall pick and this little peek into what might be is nonetheless exciting.

You got to see McKenna's shot, his handles, his smooth skating stride and his poise - yes it's a promo video but the talent is still there.

If he can take that skillset and translate it into a strong camp where he's able to help contribute offensively right away, then it might give Jim Hiller and the coaching staff a better idea about where he fits when it comes to building his lineup for opening night.

Also, with limited preseason games he'll only have a couple chances to get comfortable with in-game action.

But those preseason games and camp aren't too far away from us, and now fans are beginning to get a chance to see what the future may hold for the Toronto Maple Leafs - with training camp the next real test.
